Club Rules and Bylaws

Early in 2010 James Hiter and Nathan Bryant volunteered to form a committee of two that would take on the task of updating the Atlanta Motorcycle Club Rules and Bylaws.  They drafted modifications to the current Rules and Bylaws and conducted reviews at the regular club meetings held between February and June.  The discussions were generally productive, however unfortunately at times they were less than productive.

After the June meeting, interest in updating the Rules and Bylaws waned, and no discussions were held at the July and August meetings.  At the August meeting, the committee indicated that due to the responses received during the earlier discussions they were prepared to drop efforts to update the Rules and Bylaws.

A number of club members are of the opinion that in spite of the tone of some of the discussions, the committee performed a valuable service and its efforts should be continued and brought to a vote.  Toward that end, Bill Cobb was added to the committee and the expanded committee updated the Proposed Rules & Bylaws, incorporating into them the results of the earlier discussions and several new items.

The committee is proposing the following:

  1. Before the September club meeting (September 1st), we ask that each member download version 2 of the Proposed Rules and Bylaws, review it, and make notes about things you would change.

    • For reference, a PDF file containing the current Rules and Bylaws can be downloaded by clicking here.
  2. Version 2 of the Proposed Rules and Bylaws will be discussed at the September club meeting.
    • Printed copies of the current Rules and Bylaws and version 2 of the Proposed Rules and Bylaws will be available at the meeting.
  3. Following the discussions, the Proposed Rules and Bylaws will again be updated and distributed to club members as required by the current Rules and Bylaws.
  4. The Proposed Rules and Bylaws will be voted on at the October meeting.
